Hello!
So I had an issue with rear left light. It went out. Disassembled it and the earth wire on the connector was burned out. I followed tutorial found on youtube. Cut the wire going from the connector and spliced a new piece of wire. I've located the ground plate in the light cluster and drilled a hole to screw in the new piece of wire. My light design was slightly different than in video but it worked when testing it in parking lot.
Light works, but now brake lights (on all three rear lamps) are intermittently on, regardless of brake lever actually being depressed. Obviously I made a mistake.
The way I see it could be two options:
1) Poor grounding. Maybe the wire need to be soldered to the metal plate? Crimping with new connectors does not make good enough contact?
2) Location of new wire. I bolted the new wire in the middle of the light cluster, between 4 light bulbs, because that was shortest route. Originally the connector makes contact in the corner of the lamp, before the reverse lightbulb. Is it possible that this makes some sort of resistance play in the wiring that activates brake bulb?
I would appreciate any advice.

This is the type of fault that needs reference to the wiring diagram which I'm afraid we don't have access to at the moment. There are members with access and if one of them reads your post you may get some advice from them
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

The light can only come on if there is power to it, so you need to work out where the power is coming from.
Either the circuit is wired correctly and the brake light switch is faulty (providing power when it shouldn't), or the wiring is wrong and 12V is connected from somewhere it shouldn't be.

Yup the brake light switch was faulty. Actually it works, but the razor thin strip of plastic that screws it in place has gone loose and made a little bit of play at the mounting. Enough to set off the brake light.
I checked it while troubleshooting but didn't feel like removing it. Being lazy never pays off. I feel so stupid.
Never noticed the brake lights are always on before the light failed. It's very sunny here and I usually drive during the day. Oh well. Lesson learned. Tightened it with zip tie and placed a small tab under it.
