Rear height corrector

Unread post by peter306 »

As my car as now done 189,000 miles and seemed a bit sluggish on the back I took the height corrector of and cleaned it following Jims instructions. the fluid in the bowl also hid a bit of thick sludge.
It's now back together and going up and down nicely once I'd turned myself around and inspite of the warnings corrected my mistake :rofl2:
It's now leaking from the front of the corrector.

As a guess, this is your 1.8 Xantia in your signature but with an extra 41k miles.

I wonder if the leaking is caused by a little cut in one of the black diaphragms. I have had that before where you reassemble it all but when it comes to pushing the metal ring back to hold the diaphragm , it causes a little split that oozes out LHM. Usually caused by the vrubber getting old. Worth a check

Hello,
It looks like the fluid is seeping from the rim, the diaphragm simply seems to be loose, I found the metal ring to be very easy to push on.
As a temporary fix i've taken it all off and put some sealant on the metal slot of the body, i'll put it back on tomorrow once it's cured and see what happens.
If that doesn't work then it looks like a new one.
