My C5 X7 developed a flat spot on the throttle, I was assured the fault was the HP diesel pump, I changed it and it wasn't! A little while after this we broke down on the Honiton bypass. The nice young AA man that came out couldn't find the fault so towed us home. I lied in bed the following morning analysing the symptoms and fixed it myself, however he did say that the first fault that showed on his diagnostic tool was the crank sensor so I ordered one intending to fit it when I changed the cam belt.
On our was to Scotland a few weeks ago it was getting worse, so I stopped at the services and disconnected the MAF sensor which considerably improved it, for about 1200 miles then it started stalling every time I stopped, I plugged the MAF in again and then had both faults. We managed about another 1200 miles and got home OK.
I then fitted the new crank sensor, I bought a Febi one with a 5 year guarantee, after I fitted it I couldn't start it at all initially although it would sometimes fire up and then stop, I bought and fitted another one now it wont start at all

Sorry for the long story but I thought you would like the facts before I got round to the Lexia. I obtained one a few years ago but couldn't get it to work, so today I had another go. It fired up OK but when it asked for the VIN no I entered it and it said it should have 17 characters, mine doesn't , only 16 so after a little experimentation I tried adding a "0" on the end and lo and behold the menu came up but it said "no dialogue" to everything, what have I done wrong
