Hi all
Apologies if this was discussed before .
I have a 2011 5008 2.0 Hdi Automatic and I would like to do the timing belt abd water pump and have few questions.
1- car is automatic , do I still have to remove starter motor to lock the flex plate( with locking tool to teeth or round pin inserted like manual box )?
2- what are torque settings for the various bolts I might encounter during the process?
3- I read that its advisable not to use impact gun to undo crank bolt , true?
4 - workshop how to guide would be helpful if someone has a copy to share.
5 - gates to Ina water pump , both as good?
Regards

Re: 5008 Mk1 2.0 hdi Timing belt
I think that the engine of your car is DW10 engine series, same or close to mine.So if you think that you have same engine.
1. You still have to lock the flywheel and of course camshaft.A 8mm drill bit, does the job.You can do it without removing starter but is difficult. Officially you need both lock pin and teeth tool.I used only lock pin and i removed starter because there only 3 bolts and the cable.
2. This is something that i can't help cause of risk maybe give you wrong torques as it is different variant and year of engine i suppose. You never know.
3. DON'T use impact gun. There is a risk messing up the threads of crankshaft as the bolt has Loctite. You must heat up the bolt with heat air gun, about 4-5 min or some kind of torch but not too much.Just to soften the locktite of the bolt to get undone with the flywheel locked of course.
4. I use the Haynes electronic workshop which does the job for 20€.Until now i'm satisfied. It has all the torques values, troubleshooting e.t.c and does the job.
5. INA is the supplier of PSA for water pump and timing belt and is known to fail the "plastic" impeller especially if engine overheat.Gates use plastic impeller too but i think is better brand.I used Continental timing belt and water pump with METAL impeller. This is the kit if it is the same variant. CT1140WP2
A nice video is this one .It is for Ford Mondeo but has the same PSA engine from Peugeot.

Re: 5008 Mk1 2.0 hdi Timing belt
Thanks for the valuable info.
I agree rattle gun might cause more damage however some folks state that u cant use the flywheel lock tool as means the hold the crank while undoing the crank bolt claiming flywheel pin isnt strong enough for the job and damage could be done to flywheel and or box ...

Just asking for opinions...
Crank bolt removal ,
1 -Heat gun for 5 min then Impact gun to undo it?
2- lock flywheel with pin + teeth locked with tool , Heat bolt for 5 min. then braker bar?
Thanks

This would be my preferred method, alternatively just run the engine to warm it up if you can then loosen with gun.amazighman wrote: 29 Jun 2025, 14:37 Just asking for opinions...

Dont lock the flywheel with the timing pin to loosen the bolt, its not designed for it & can damage the locator on the back of the flywheel, some are just a little spot welded tab. Different story on an old XUD engine where it is just a hole drilled into the flywheel.amazighman wrote: 29 Jun 2025, 14:37 2- lock flywheel with pin + teeth locked with tool , Heat bolt for 5 min. then braker bar?
Locking with the teeth is how it should be done.
In both cases slacken the bolt first then set the timing. I normally remove the bolt & clean off the loctite in both the bolt and crank threads then re fit hand tight with a ratchet so it can be easily removed at the next stage.
