Hello!
We are currently replacing the drive shaft on the right side. The car is a c5 x7 2.2 hdi aut 2015.
The manual from Marc says to depressurize the front axle. Is it necessary or can the drive shaft be replaced anyway? The car is set in the highest position and is on jack stands.
Depressurise or not?

Re: Depressurise or not?
No, this will not work.
The best thing to do this without de pressurized is to lower the car in the lowest position and then disconnect the battery.
Then jack up the car and place the stands

Re: Depressurise or not?
I have just changed the right hand driveshaft on my C5 X7, I think you need to depressurise so you have enough free movement in the suspension to get the drop link and bolts out so you can pull out the hub and free the driveshaft. I had the front end upon 2 axle stands, battery disconnected and depressurised with the nipple at the front right strut top. About 0.5l of fluid came out.

Re: Depressurise or not?
If you follow my procedure, then there are no pressure anymore, because if you lift the car with a jack, the wheels hang loose from the ground and there is no more pressure in the struts. This is why you must disconnect the battery, otherwise all LDS will go to the lds tank.
