Display is spinning

All of a sudden the display in my C5R//2.2 estate// 170PS//built in 2007 is going crazy

Normally, the current fuel consumption is displayed alongside other data when the car is travelling faster than 30 km/h.

If you accelerate - with increasing power requirement - the consumption increases - if you take your foot off the accelerator (coasting mode) the consumption goes down to ‘0’ (exception during regeneration).

Recently, everything has been reversed - the more power is required, the lower the fuel consumption is displayed - if you take your foot off the accelerator (coasting), fuel consumption rises to 99.9.

Apart from the spinning display, the car works without any problems - no loss of performance.

Does anyone know this nonsense and how can it be changed again? - or better what happened and caused this display anomaly???

Looks as if you are now showing miles per gallon in the instantaneous display whereas before you were showing litres per km. Possibly in the settings you can change from mpg to l/km.

Thank you - that would be a logical explanation - but how did this changeover happen on its own?
