indicators and repeaters continue flashing after unlocking doors
Hello everyone. Had the C5 for 12 trouble free years until last week!! Unlocking the doors now sets the flashers blinking rapidly in a sequence of approximately 6 flashes then a gap then 6 flashes and a gap repeatedly until the car goes into economy mode. Same thing happens when exiting the car and locking with fob. Took it to main dealers and paid 150 to diagnose the fault and was told the fault was a relay in the under bonnet fuse box. And of course the get out of jail card they played was "the fuse box is no longer available" I may be wrong but that diagnosis sounds like throwing parts at it until it works! Has anyone else had the flashing light problem? Oh yes, Plenty of fuse boxes available on ebay with the wires cut off and covered in muck! However I have ordered one from Spain which at least looked almost as clean as mine! Just one other thing which may be a coincidence. The fault appeared after I backed the car into a large builders bag of wood. No damage at all to the boot and it closes and locks and unlocks no problem.

Do you have reversing sensors? Or was the backing into the bag of wood a result of no sensors!?

Re: indicators and repeaters continue flashing after unlocking doors
Did the dealer give you a diagnosis report on the service record sheet, confirming what they tested and found in more technical detail?
Wires cut off is nothing to worry about - that’s just how breakers yards get them out quickly and some people want the plugs and a pig-tails to repair damaged wiring on their own cars.
If you check all the doors and boot etc after locking the car (while it’s flashing fast) are they all confirmed locked ok?

Does your car have an alarm?

Do the indicators continue to flash with the engine running ? Have you tried with the spare fob in case it is a problem with the fob ? What happens if you unlock the car using a key ?

Yes I do have reversing sensors and they still work. I just was not paying attention when I hit the bag. It wasn't at speed ,the bag was at the back of the garage so it was more of a gentle shove/crush.

The dealers report stated; Checked and found relay sticking in under bonnet fuse box. Tested using donor part, fault not apparent. refit original fuse box. Fault now not there. Monitor and if the fault persists the under bonnet fuse box will need replacing.wurlycorner wrote: 18 May 2025, 09:35 Did the dealer give you a diagnosis report on the service record sheet, confirming what they tested and found in more technical detail?

that lasted 2 days and now the fault has returned.

Re: indicators and repeaters continue flashing after unlocking doors
Yes,indicators still flash with engine running. I travelled about 5 miles on the way to dealers before they stopped. Both fobs are good. I changed batteries in both and re initialised them. Indicators still flash. On unlocking using the key in the lock there is no siren.PaulC5 wrote: 18 May 2025, 11:31 Do the indicators continue to flash with the engine running ? I don't know the details of the alarm on this model, but I suspect that the alarm has got set and is getting triggered when you unlock the doors.
There is probably a manual procedure to disarm the alarm, check the owners handbook.

Re: indicators and repeaters continue flashing after unlocking doors
Yes,you are right. the car has perimeter protection and volumetric protection. There is a switch on the dash with a diode and the three states are diode off =alarm not activated. diode flashing slowly= alarm activated. diode flashing rapidly when alarm is disarmed by pressing unlock on the fob. Diode stops flashing when ignition is switched on. You can de activate volumetric protection by pressing once on the dashboard switch. Of course, the alarm is activated by pressing lock on the fob. At present I can't see the diode coming on at all when I press lock and also the siren is not working when I unlock the car with the key.xantia_v6 wrote: 18 May 2025, 17:27 I don't know the details of the alarm on this model, but I suspect that the alarm has got set and is getting triggered when you unlock the doors.

Switching the ignition on with a programmed key should turn off the alarm.xantia_v6 wrote: 18 May 2025, 17:27

Re: indicators and repeaters continue flashing after unlocking doors
Yes,that is correct. As well as the unlock button on the fob resetting the alarm, if needed, switching the ignition on also resets the alarm to ready. The volumetric alarm will also reset if you have deactivated it before exiting the car and locking it.

Re: indicators and repeaters continue flashing after unlocking doors
That’s not an unreasonable diagnosis tbf - though it would have been helpful if they had specified which relay.pierre1409 wrote: 18 May 2025, 13:14The dealers report stated; Checked and found relay sticking in under bonnet fuse box. And my question about whether all doors and boot are actually locked?
