K line diagnostics. What do I need please?

Unread post by Skylinenuttergtr »

Hi. I've installed a 2.0hdi into a Talbot express motorhome. Mated the engine to the original gearbox. Currently I've wired up the bosch single plug ecu but it won't start.
Hdi tuning ecu. Unlocked stage 2.5 with supporting mods. I've gone over the wiring again and again.
I need diagnostic equipment. I've wired the OBD. It's k line.
I'm thinking I've mounted the tdc sensor on the box slightly out but need the live data to verify.

What do I need to buy? I know I need peugeot planet pp2000, but there's so much out there, I'm not sure exactly what i need and what will work with k line.
I'm not very computer savvy, hence requesting some help from more knowledgeable people.
I've put so much work and time into this project, and feel pretty deflated as all my efforts aren't paying off! I need a cuddle and some encouragement! Lol

If it's only the engine, most OBDII or EOBD scanners should give you the error codes. You'll need to find out what protocol the ECU is using on the K line and check that the scanner supports that protocol. But even the cheap scanners support a lot of protocols.
If you have to program the ECU then you'll need diagbox.

Ok thanks. I've tried a mycarly scanner but it won't communicate. Probably cos it's so old. I'll dig out my old scanner and try it. Worth a try
