Egr continously clicking on and off, tested plug
Hi , pretty sure egr valve is caput, but before I find another I wanted to check everything is OK at connector plug ,to avoid disturbing ecu yet again (only recently cleared communication fault ) I unplugged egr and tested voltages across 5 pins , see attached Pic, could anyone tell me if these are the voltages I should expect to see and if so would this confirm it's egr faulty and not wiring. Thanks

Have you done a diagnostic, if so what fault codes did you get ? Also which car/engine/year/miles - might help others who can help.

C4 picasso mk1 2013 ,open or short circuit egr fault P0405 which could be egr or anything in wiring to it,which is why I was hoping someone with knowledge of testing these wires at plug end could help out in eliminating the wiring as the problem (or not !) Before I go any further.

Re: Egr continously clicking on and off, tested plug
Hi and thanks , had seen a similar one , it seems to point to my pin 5 to pin1 voltage 12.3v being too high as should be 5v ? Will have to go back to ecu plugs to check my wiring for shorts / continuity between ecu / egr ,think 1st I will check egr plug to make sure no short in plug ,also confirming right colours at right plugs on ecu will confirm I've checked right egr plug wiring voltages.luckily project car so no urgency !

I would check the contacts at 1297 and 1320 and with the connectors disconnected measure the resistance with a multimeter at the respective contacts. It must be a short circuit. After that, I would get another (correct) EGR and try it.

Re: Egr continously clicking on and off, tested plug
It might be possible to get another egr and connect the wiring to it but not actually install the egr, then see if the fault code goes. If it does go then you can go to the bother of replacing the valve.

Re: Egr continously clicking on and off, tested plug
Getting another egr valve that is good is costly hence going down the testing route ,from what I've read and mostly it's not practical experience, the diagrams show 5v at pin 1 and I have 12.28v ?? Just have to find out why and where, doing loads of ohms, continuity tests this afternoon so may have some idea ,but I am useless at electrickery testing !!
