Yep, the news headlines usually run along the lines of 'Driest Spring since the last driest Spring', but they're now actually saying '.....on track for driest spring on record' though I feel there ought be a Clarkson-esque "....in the world" appended to that

I've noticed the spring-fed lake at work is slightly down on water supply and I'm having to manage the water in it in a minor way at present

Had a wander through our "Princess Anne Park" and the stream that runs through it is practically dry.

I can't remember the last time it rained here... Still, I'm sure that'll soon change... After all, summer is just around the corner

Not a good photo as I only had my phone with me:

Autumn and her mum looking at the other sort of strawberry growing in my garden :)

This photo was taken using a little pocket camera on long-term loan from Mick. I ran a roll of bargain-basement film through it just to see if it was good..

It's remarkably good :D

This is the camera:

An even better example of the quality of your little Canon camera Mick:

My paternal grandfather worked all his life as a nurseryman in and specialised in breeding peonies. The nursery he worked at, Kelways of Langport in Somerset, were - and to an extent still are - famous for their peonies and a locality nearby is called Peony Valley to honour that...

One of the peonies he bred still thrives in my garden as a memorial to him. Yesterday I took a few photos of the blooms almost at their prime:

I'm soon to continue the tradition of passing this plant onto the next generation when I plant one in my eldest's garden :)

That camera is certainly doing a nice job, a shame about the metal in the foreground spoiling the view :-D

As for the blooms, glad you used colour for them, no impact in monochrome!! :-D

Actually Mick... Not metal - it's carbon fibre   Or mostly...

Or do you mean the metal chain fencing down each side of the drive? ;) :)

I was referring to the spokes, I thought the chain was probably synthetic!! :-D

Yep, I concede that... They are indeed metal :) The chain is too although its lubrication is synthetic...

You're right there Mick :(

Hardly worth taking that photo in colour... You'd have seen precious little difference if it was shot in black and white

A bit more colourful where I spent most of today :-D

I'd have to argue there Jim, taking it in monochrome would not have made the point I was aiming at. It's the surrounding blue sky and yellow markings that highlight the drabness of the cars!! :-D

Conversely Mick, that photo, with a few small adjustments, could end quite artistic :)

After just a few minutes of playing with it - there, much happier and easier on the eye :)
