Hi all, quick question. Anyone know safest way to remove the drivers airbag? If there is a procedure such as waiting a duration after the ignition off. Do I have to disconnect the battery etc.
I'm looking to replace the steering wheel central buttons because mine are all worn and the airbag has to be removed first.

For safety reasons the best way is to disconnect the battery.
Then under the steering wheel is a small hole, you need to stick a flat screwdriver in there, but keep it vertical, then just push and the airbag comes loose.
But if you keep the screwdriver in the wrong position i mean the bed horizontal instead of vertical, then you are under the piece and you feel no resistance to push on.

Vertical (90 deg) related to the steering wheel....NOT vertical related to "the world"

Umm I'm confused- I though it was vertically up under the floating middle . There's a little hole visible! Found yt vid showing the process anyway.Stickyfinger wrote: 08 May 2025, 09:13 Vertical (90 deg) related to the steering wheel....NOT vertical related to "the world"![]()
Be quite good if it didn't 'splode in my face.
Might be quite funny to the onlooker though. Ha
