Hi everyone,
I have an aftermarket looking keyhole in my 2005 C5 in front of the gear shifter (manual), under the little rubber tray - see pictures.
It would require a different key from my ignition key, but it was not supplied with the car - not even sure the previous owner knew about this.
Does anyone have any clue what it could be for? Has anyone seen something like this before?
Thanks

Looks like a non standard part/installation to me...
"normal" harness is like this I think Is there a Air Bag off key lock in the glove box ?

Yes, it has the standard airbag off key lock apart from this.
Definiately looks aftermarket, the hole is not even round. Also, looks like a house key.
Maybe some kind of hidden anti-theft mechanical lock for the shifter? That's my only idea.

Curious, yes.
My thought it's some kind of additional immobiliser device - most likely some kind of 'DIY' fuel cut-off, as you say.

Ejecto seato, cuz!
That looks like some kind of domestic lock as well lol. The only way to get an idea for what it might be would be to dismantle that panel and see where the wiring goes, but it might not be worth the faff. Though it could lead to a hidden drug stash or something. LMAO

I only made one intentional reference to 2F2F, what's the second one? LOL

Oh just the general suggestion about what might be found, that’s all.

Definitely an add on. Id pull up the surround to have a look. See if there is any electrical connections for a cut off switch however looking at the type of lock core my guess would bee some sort of mechanical gear lever lock.

The gaiter just pops off i think, would give you an idea of any wires or locking mechanism ?
