My brother in law in (82) managed to damage the outer frames on both wing mirrors reversing into the garage (at different times) and although you can get replacements for the 2 outer panels Renault informed me the frames are N/A and complete new mirrors were about £300 each ouch!. I went on eBay and got a new pair for a total of £164 and when they arrived they looked and fitted just like the originals so job done. The originals were made in Slovakia and the box on the new ones says made in Taiwan so whether they are pattern parts or not I don't know but they seem of good quality/finish. I have now dismantled the passenger mirror and it is possible to change the outer frame but googling the numbers drew a blank so another case it seems of built in obsolescence. By the time I have dismantled both mirrors I will have 2 spare motors, 2 spare glasses and two spare indicator lamps, my bit to saving the planet!
Just out of interest the passenger mirror has a plastic button that protrudes thru the underneath of the mirror and internally has 2 blue wires going to it, is this a temp sensor to turn on the heated mirrors?
