Xantia leak

Unread post by Sam31415 »

Hi all,

My Xantia has sprung a small leak from a pipe at the front just under the steering rack. (i think its a return pipe) and trying to find a part No. / method of fixing?

Also what is the difficulty of replacing it seems to be one piece which goes back to the reservoir.

Any help would be much appreciated, ive attached a few imaged below for reference.

Welcome to the forum Sam :D

That's a well-known happening nowadays and fairly easy to rectify... Lots of the Xantia rubbery bits are starting to perish although as always, ingenuity can make good :)

Await advice from Stickyfinger and he'll put you on the right road... Be a bit patient as I know he's currently a bit preoccupied with other things...

It looks like one of the tentacles of the octopus

There is a version available from dr xantia in Turkey, but it is for LHD cars and the hose for the steering rack would require extending for a RHD car.

That end part (3 way section) can be replaced with a 3way standard connector and some short (the hard plastic type) standard return lines of the correct size.... Hint....insert the return line deep (approx 3inch) into the main rising hose to prevent stress at the end of it due to the stiffness of the plastic return tube.

..........assuming it is a stress split and not a fully brittled/crumbled hose...

PS....sorry for not posting quickly but a family health demand/hospital visit took my time/priority No1
