Now there's a thought Alasdair, that would look good - an AX Aircross  :) I'd have something very unique then!

Sure you spelt that right? :-D
I always use spelled not spelt, spelt is some sort of grain.................so I looked it up, maybe I have some American in me. :-D
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Both spelled and spelt are correct past tense forms of the verb "spell". The choice between them often depends on the version of English you are using:
GrammarBook.com +4 In US English, "spelled" is standard. In UK English, both "spelled" and "spelt" are acceptable.

That reminds me of something that happened to my Mum. After she wrote her book "The Blacksmith" she started work on the book "The Black Cat". When she was explained to explain the concept she said that she was basically telling the story of "The Blacksmith", but from the perspective of that lead characters' sister (as well as following that sisters' life). The response was "That is rather unique", and then Mum got pedantic, saying that uniqueness was an absolute. Anyway, that book was also a success, and paid for the narrowboat she calls home (well, it is really called "The Black Cat", after the book that paid for it!).

Easy to derail your pedantry tendency Matt, just look at your kids to remind you of what really matters and you'll have no trouble ignoring what doesn't!! :-D

Ah ! I fear you're thinking about this the wrong way. Why would you want to turn off your pedantry mode ? Embrace the pedantry

It's been a while as I've done absolutely nothing on my cars in living memory... I've all but given up driving now and Strawberry has only been out once in the past two weeks for a short run to Junior parkrun.

I do have a slightly longer journey to do tomorrow - to a location near Bedford so I'll drive Polly - her battery will need a top-up anyway. It might also give her a chance to regen...

Happily, my health is slowly improving and I'm able again to undertake short runs and bike rides. Progress :-D

I've been snapping up a particular model of Pentax SLR camera on eBay for very small amounts of money. Really only for spares although I've already resurrected two of them :D

One had suffered a significant battery leak and in an effort to open the battery compartment with a coin the slot had become a bit damaged... This was mentioned in the ebay listing and ensured it sold only for pennies ;)

To open it up, I removed the battery compartment from the camera body and with it carefully clamped in a vice I drilled two small holes in the threaded cover to allow my lens tool to open it... That worked brilliantly :D

The batteries were a bit furry!

But happily, the positive contact was almost unscathed :)

A good clean-up, the removal of a little bit of non-critical corrosion on the camera body itself and a bit of general maintenance and I now have another good, working camera :D
