Off for my RSV vaccination tomorrow.

Boo, hiss. Despite booking me in, when I got there I was told I was too young for the jab. Apparently it's only for pregnant mums or people aged between 75 and 80 - neither of which I fall into. There are no sub categories for exceptions either as I hoped that there might be allowances for people with compromised immune systems.

Re: Just been stabbed.
Another one done. Had to travel to the nearest town this time, not a problem as the bus passes the end of the street and stops near the pharmacy.
I was told to see my doctor though as my BP was very high. Possibly due to someone climbing aboard the bus with a lot of perfume on.
Had one of my rare haircuts as the barber is close to the pharmacy, then walking back for the bus was waved at by someone in a gleaming black 280Z. Went to the garage as I thought it may have been Danny, the garage owner and it was. He says my replacement Mazda 6 will be ready next week.
Then walked home. Mistake! Big mistake!
Meant to take the bus back as the doctor's is one stop past my house. Only just remembered that. Oh well!

Re: Just been stabbed.
Great news on the car Steve
I'm a big exponent of jabs and will be taking up whatever is offered to me this year. The only time I missed my Covid and 'flu jabs (year before last) I succumbed to both. I've been and continue to be a bit below par but not because of Covid or 'flu...
I was delighted I managed a short, slow run this morning and this lunchtime I managed a 5K walk. That, for me, is definite progress...
Later this year I'll be eligible for my bus pass. That may get plenty of use now I've more or less given up driving.

Re: Just been stabbed.
When I was young I fell on an ice slide and cut my head open. The hospital gave me a tetanus jab and by 7 in the evening my arm had turned into a blimp. My Dad took me back to the hospital where they put me on a course of Tetanus Toxoid which meant jabs 6 days, 6 weeks, 6 months later and then supposedly a boost every 5 years. Still under my parents care I had the first 5 yearly one despite my arm doing another blimp job following the pre BCG skin test the year before. Since that day the only jabs I have had were the anaesthetics when in hospital for my kidney stones and then again my dislocated ankle. No other needles have punctured me since and if I have my way none ever will!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Like Jim I take any that are on offer, never any reaction to them.

Re: Just been stabbed.
It doesn't worry me in the slightest Steve, as it goes, for my age, I am pretty healthy in general, not fit but healthy!! Jim and I were discussing it during the April Adventure and we are opposites in that without a doubt, he is pretty fit and generally unhealthy, the opposite of me. I put it down to my high sugar, chocolate and beer intake versus his mostly vegetarian diet
Incidentally I monitor my BP two or three times a week and it is generally in the 135-115 over 85-60 grouping. with an average RHR of 65. Happy with that so I won't be changing anything!!

Re: Just been stabbed.
Indeed Mick, you are so right about us being opposites in so many ways health-wise...
Going by your BP and RHR that's really very, very good - better than me in fact so yes, don't change anything at all
I'm not so sure any health professionals would necessarily endorse your diet but it clearly suits you perfectly!

Re: Just been stabbed.
The last time I saw a GP following my gastro problems the year before COVID she told me that I should stay away from green leaves and her words were: "You have the cholesterol level of a new born baby so whatever you are doing, keep doing it!!" I have!!CitroJim wrote: 11 Apr 2025, 17:55 Indeed Mick, you are so right about us being opposites in so many ways health-wise...

Re: Just been stabbed.
Just seen that I have had a call from the doctor's. Haven't looked at the phone since I got home at 13:30ish.
Hateful thing.
I was trying to read "The French Lieutenant's Woman" on it in the hairdressers, but hadn't the right glasses, had dropped the case for them in the pharmacy and bent them, there was a radio playing and there is a bus stop outside with a bus every tqo minutes, so distracting.
Completely lost track of what was what. I have read it before but that was fifty or more years ago.
I remember nothing but every now and again see a sentence that I recognise.
Gave it up and tried the forum but that was worse.
Encouraging to see the doctors have been alerted and about to take action.
Odd though as it is only a couple of months since I had a full range of tests and got a gold star for losing weight, improved cholesterol and BP and other diabetes related gubbins.
Will have a walk over next week and see what they want.
