Help needed, please!
I think I have been sold a mis-described and defective product. I paid a local parts supplier almost £2k for a NEW gearbox for our Relay van and had it fitted by my trusted garage. After only a few miles, the transmission started to make the bad noise heard in my earlier video.
A few days ago, we got the van back with another gearbox (and a £4k bill) and I was able to examine the failed unit, pictured below.
The various markings on the failed unit suggest to me that this was not the NEW gearbox I had paid for. I contacted Citroen Care Centre yesterday, supplying them with all the photos below and asking them when the gearbox was manufactured. They replied that as I hadn't purchased it through an appointed parts supplier they couldn't give me any information at all, and they failed to reply to a follow up question.
So I'm now having to find a way around this issue. Does anyone have a record of another gearbox with casting and other numbers LATER than the ones in the photos below along with the date it was bought or fitted, so I can build a case against the supplier?
Thank you. H
Original text: I recently had a (failed) gearbox removed from our Relay van, and I saw that it had a variety of markings on it.
Can anyone tell me when or where it was manufactured or reconditioned ?
Can anyone explain the crackled surface on the 6th photo?
Thanks in advance, H
