When best to renew the vehicles radiator coolant...

Unread post by Retired TD »

2011. Citroen. C3. Picasso. VTR. Plus HDi. 1.6. Diesel. 57k

I have owned my Picasso C3 for about 8 years and she has now done 57k mileage.

When would you advise to fully drain and clean the coolant please?

Robert.

I would have thought the coolant was replaced when the timing belt and water pump were replaced when the car was 10 years old at the latest, so probably in 2021. Whether you want to replace it again will depend on what coolant was put in with the new water pump, if a long life Citroen type it is likely ok for quite some time but if another brand then you would need to research it.

at least in my region there is a maintenance specified at the c4gp / spacetourer: if the PH value is below 6.3 it needs to be replaced. the PH check is scheduled after 4 years / 125.000 and after this annually / 25.000km

Mine was changed at its last ever dealer service - I only had it done to maintain the warranty - at 45,000 miles. It was on the schedule.

As Paul says, it will have (or should have) when the cambelt/water pump was done...
