Welcome
Have a check in the engine ECU - are there any faults in there?

Re: Abs/esp light faulty gearbox and handbrake
Another member suffered the same symptoms/fault codes on the same model previously

Unfortunately didn't post up what was found/rectified about it though.
Based on the very limited information, I would be going into the handbrake and ABS ECU's to check all live data and see if everything looks normal/is responding to function tests correctly - and then checking all the connectors on those circuits (at the handbrake and the ECU's) are in good condition/not suffered from water ingress and corrosion etc.

Re: Abs/esp light faulty gearbox and handbrake
It's very likely not to be an ABS / Handbrake issue. The way these are programmed, if the engine ECU sets a code, then it interrupts the engine speed data flow to the ABS ECU and it puts on all the brake related lights and sets the U1213 code in the ABS. Sometimes the engine code does not even set the engine management light! I chased this for ages on our similar vintage Picasso, and although I had seen an EGR fault code in the early days I ignored it as it was intermittent and hadn't set the EML. Lots of work later I eventually found out about the programming, and twigged the connection to the EGR (which by then had got worse and was causing running issues and occasional EML) - changed the valve and all was OK after that! Hence my question about fault codes in the engine ECU....wurlycorner wrote: 02 Apr 2025, 13:16

Re: Abs/esp light faulty gearbox and handbrake
I'm going on U0415 being "Invalid Data Received From Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module" (and u1213 being a general no communication fault).
The latter codes gives no direction, where U0415 indicates the fault is coming FROM the ABS unit, hence that's where I'm suggesting to start.
As I said, that's going on very little info though, so I'm perfectly prepared to be wrong!
