Hello all,
Does anyone knows where the subwoofer is located in the DS7 mk1, 2020 with focal surround system?
Thanks..

My guess is either under booth carpet (side pockets), or under the front passenger seat?

Not sure if this is the bit you mean, hard to say from the parts diagram but it kind of looks like it may be under the front seat.

Hello,
Yes, seams under the passenger seat, as i can see part of the plastic cover. Quite strange place to put this kind of speaker as i have seen those mostly in the boot area and easily accessible..
All this came from the fact that i was expecting much deeper- louder bass, and the only bass i hear are the one from the central dash and door speakers. At least from the driver side position..
Is it more less same with focal and your cars?

Had never even heard of a 'focal' subwoofer till you asked about it. Any factory fitted subwoofers i have seen are normally in the boot somewhere, either in the spare wheel well or the side panel in the boot.

Thanks for the manual, but just reading remove the front seat and part of the carpet..Omg... Why the hell they didn't put it somewhere in the boot area to be more accessible. I am sure that even the sound would be much better..

Focal sound system is known in PSA, used by Peugeot for 3008 also. It was not standard but option to add. Each Focal system is having this subwoofer speaker, now we know, under the passenger seat, and under part of the carpet...

It is a French technology ))). To be honest can't hear any difference between regular and Focal system apart one - it's bit louder. Rest is at the same level. Bass box unnoticeable

I was checking sound sources yesterday and its quite impacting the sound quality overall depending from where you play.
Songs downloaded and converted to highest mp3 bitrate, played from usb drive are quite good.
Also, tuning a bit of software woofer settings make it much better... As for the Focal vs non focal, i would say its a quite a difference in clarity and sound quality overall, especially if the volume is above half mark where you can see that speakers are not having any sound distortion in Focal case. Compared to one non Focal earlier..

One more thing, i manage to find a good apple car play wireless adapter from Temu, so now i have also wireless apple car play. The thing that impressed me the most is the sound quality over the adapter which is better than Bluetooth apple phone connected to car Bluetooth directly for music playing only. It might be the fact that you can connect to adapter by using Wi-Fi connection, and i guess since the Wi-Fi speed and transmission is superior to the Bluetooth signal and communication is of better quality overall...

Drawback is that car built in Bluetooth is unavailable if the adapter is inserted, and if you want to use the myDS app, you need to remove adapter and connect car Bluetooth..

Don't know about apple car, but android auto thru the speakers sounds awful. Better over bluetooth or usb stick. Distortion when you have a dedicated amplifier will be much less than using non focal setup. I replaced speakers for a focal one, but don't have amp and bass box. Sounds exactly the same as original speakers.. My friend has a focal with amp and bass box and I did test it. Same music from usb stick, volume level at 10 and there was not a lot of difference. at higher settings there was a bit difference but if I lowered bass setting by -1 and high settings by -1 notch didn't feel any difference
