Lexia hardware question

Unread post by mariocostacurta »

Good morning,
what is difference between these two devices?
I'm asking about original device.
a1281z is still for sale via PSA delaer.
Will an older device with a number 9780.z5 connect to PSA/Opel cars from ~2019-2022? Does this device work with a servicebox?
Thanks '

The difference is, that the 9780.z5 is a Chinese copy ,but if this one is with the correct hardware (optocopler/ic's) it works good, with the lexia/diagbox.

You can't trust what's written on the box.
It opens easily and then you can see what's inside.

It definitely was an official PSA hardware.
When talking about original ones I'm not sure if there is any actual difference with the newer one apart from branding to include DS after they made it a separate brand?
The genuine 9780Z5 was released around 2007 before Diagbox was even released. I have an original 9780Z5 that still works perfectly with the latest Diagbox (including Opel models).
I could not comment on the fake clone versions of both these interfaces.

Supplement:
As described, all original VCIs work with any DIAGBOX software.
However, the VCIs shown here are clearly not originals, but clones from China.
The original A.1281 Z has no DS symbol in the centre
and
the original 9780.Z5 has a lighter-coloured field with a darker Citroen font and the symbols are slightly larger.
100% originals can be identified by the small silver sticker on the back.
For originals, this VCI variant is labelled 921815C/...and each original has different registration numbers, e.g. /11W47/0037409
Clones always have 921815B or sometimes 921815C and then
/40W07/0005451
There are other features, e.g. the screws are different on the originals or the USB port is black on originals and usually blue on clones, etc.
Greetings Wolfgang
