just found this forum!
i have a '93 xantia 1.9td with a few problems due to lack of proper maintenance.
the most severe problem is that the front suspension won't rise to the middle or upper middle setting on it's own.
i have to raise to the top (slow and a bit jerky) then select the bottom setting and while it's on it's way down i have to return the selector to the middle, then it's ok.
after reading some of the other threads i can say that i am getting airated fluid returning to the reservoir when coming from top to lowest suspension setting.
also the fluid level indicator is permenantly stuck at the top of the glass dome regardless of ride height.
my wife really wants a 406 HDi but i like my citroens and would like to keep this one...but i've decided it's best all round if i become better at maintaining them (like i have become with me land rovers - don't shoot!!)
thanks

1. Probably the LHM needs changing - and would be best with hydraflush (available from Andyspares). Run this for about 3k miles, then switch back to LHM. See Haynes for changing the LHM.
2. The height corrector is sezied up. Get the front of the car up on ramps and get underneat. Behind the engine, about in the middle, connected to the roll bar you will find the height corrector. Give it a liberal soaking with WD-40 and then work the lever inside the car from top to bottom 10 or more times (engine running - should allow it come up and down). This should fix it.
DO NOT get under the car unless it is properly supported on stands or ramps - it can drop suddenly and squash you - especially if you are playing with the height corrector!

ta, mate.
sounds like good advice.
just to be sure do you mean run the hydraflush for 3 thousand miles...sorry.
the LHM is still green but the car has covered 135,000 miles (40,000 miles with us) so i reckon it's well due.
what's your take on the LHM being frothy/airated on return to the res. when the suspension is let down?
also the level indicator being stuck in the glass bowl?
thanks again.
