Vodafone

Unread post by Gibbo2286 »

So I decided to dump TalkTalk broadband and move to Vodafone.

First order was cancelled immediately because they tried to send an Openreach engineer, Openreach said "No there's already a line at the premises,."

So re-ordered the same day.

Note from DPD couriers "Your parcel is on its way,"

Parcel arrives with the router power hub.

I set up the hub but don't connect it because I have to wait for an Email with an activation date.

No such Email comes so I get on to their online Q&A bot, told I will get another Email closer to the activation date.

Got an Email yesterday afternoon from DPD, "Your parcel from Vodafone will arrive tomorrow."

Parcel arrived this morning.....another router hub. :o

Beginning to wonder if I should have stayed with TalkTalk.

Oh dear :( This seems all too much the norm these days as the general ability of anyone or any organisation tends to entropy Eric

Fingers crossed it soon all comes good...

We have been with Vodafone for about 3 years now for fibre broadband and landline phone through the internet box. The internet is fine, sometimes it drops out and needs switching off and back on but this is not often. We had a few problems with the landline, first it needed an adaptor RJ11? to connect the phone to the router phone socket (Rhino cable works well and the normal phone wire plugs into this) but a few times they gave our phone number to other customers and whoever answered the phone first got the call and their calls were on our bills. It took them a few attempts to sort but has been ok for a few years now. They also had to do something at their end to get the phone light on the router to light up so the phone would work. Before I found out it needed the Rhino adaptor, when I spoke to them about the phone not working they were suggesting I needed a separate account with another company for a VoIP phone, just ignore this and get the £4 Rhino adaptor.

We have phone sockets in a few rooms connected to the original BT box but by disconnecting it internally from the outside wires it could be connected to the Rhino cable with a double plug so one side for the phone near it then a normal phone wire to the old BT socket and that lets all the other room sockets work.

What I do not like is we now have 2 small transformers plugged in all the time, one for the new BT box and one for the internet box. I switch these off at night or when away and rely on a mobile phone which is needed anyway for when the electric or internet is not available.

Well that's another hour of my time gone.

I've now been told (after listening to canned music for ages) the activation date will be the 6th March,, they're suggesting that TalkTalk are to blame and that they've had to set it all up again.

They will send me a label in 3 to 5 days to return the second router.

Shi?? Just got this email, what are they playing at?

Just to confirm, we've now cancelled your new Home Broadband order for 1 GL15 6LE.

Any engineer visit that we booked for you has also been cancelled.

Need to get in touch?

If you didn't ask us to cancel your order, or you have any other questions, you can call us free on 08080 034 515 from any landline or mobile, or 191 free from a Vodafone mobile. Alternatively, you can chat to us online.

Thank you,

Oh gosh, this is turning into a right poofest Eric.

I'd be tempted to ditch 'em all and start again with another one.

I'm going to leave it a few days Jim to see what happens next, I went on to the order tracker and it doesn't yet give any info. :( I'll give it another go on Friday and if it doesn't get any clearer I'll do as you say and move on.

I suspect a lot of things nothing happens quickly due to the 14 days allowed in case you change your mind. I would not give up on Vodafone yet, they are one of the cheapest and I have found their fibre broadband is good. The land line phone is also good and a lot clearer than the old copper lines.

Agreed there Paul, I've been on Vodafone FTTP ever since it became available in our area and never a problem - touch wood. Their installation was a bit rough but nothing a bit of white trunking couldn't fix...

My only minor gripe is the incessant emails they send offering upgrades. At last they prove my email is working...

I don't use Vodafone mobile as the signal is rubbish in all my usual haunts.

I have a landline hanging off the router but can't comment on it as I've never used it.

That said, I do think they are being very shoddy toward Eric in a quite unforgivable way and reason to tell them to stuff it and look elsewhere. In fact doing that may make them get their act together.

I can see what you're saying about the 14 day bit.

The saga continues. Spent an hour and a quarter on the Vodafone helpline this morning, finally got this answer,

"The reason mention in the portal is rejected there is no details given you need to check with talk talk why they have rejected the port request ."

So a half hour then with TalkTalk who insist they have not rejected the port request they are just waiting for Vodafone to give them a date.

I can see you ending up with no phone or broadband and losing your phone number at this rate.

Back to Vodafone for another hour of being passed from dept to dept, finally told that the second attempt to transfer was still progressing , it hadn't been cancelled the email was a mistake but they cannot 'port' my broadband from TT and keep my landline number, I have to let it all set up with a new number then once all up and running I can change back if I wish to my current number.
So it's all go on the 6th March...............................or is it? :?
