Hi

Basically the SMEG systems were the first versions of of Head Units / Telematics systems that came with with a touchscreen. There was the first incarnation of SMEG and a later SMEG IV2 system that were further developed and offered CarPlay on the later unit. These have since been replaced with the Connected Navigation and Connected Radio systems since 2017. These have also now been replaced with a completely different IVI system that is even more integrated with the vehicle.

You have an RNEG 2 or RT6 or eMyWay telematics system which was earlier that the first SMEG units.

You should be aware that the units are heavily integrated into the vehicle and are designed for different electronic architectures fitted to different vehicles. Further, the touchscreen units actually did away with some of the physical buttons used for controlling some equipment, so often had different fascia, trim and other changes, so is not a straight swap. Further there may be compatibility problems, but will certainly need telecoding with a professional level diagnostic tool (so you will need to understand the system and the BSI options thoroughly) and purchase an active token from Citroen to use with Diagbox and their VCI to do this.

Personally, I would net even go there and leave it as it is, as it will mean replacing more than the unit itself and some butchery of the vehicle.

Your vehicle was provided with the RT6 when built and this model was only fitted with the SMEG system on C4 (B7) models built since 22nd February 2016.

So what I am saying is the vehicle you have now would not only need the SMEG Head unit (concealed in the dash, but the relevant Touchscreen in addition, plus the relevant wiring and configuration. Whether this will then work I can't tell you as it there may be other changes or fittings needed.

There's also SMEG+ which I presume sits between these two. As fitted to our Mk2 308.
