C5 EXCLUSIVE HDI 163 (2014) TPMS deactivation and other bits.

Unread post by Digitalnomad2020 »

Hi all, I recently joined and I'm looking for some advice.
I've just purchased a 2014 C5 2L HDI Tourer
150k miles in excellent condition with a very extensive service history.

On purchase the seller did inform me that there is a fault with the TMPS system which is quite intermittent, sometimes it registered all 4 tyres and after a while throws up an error Service light included where it seems it can't connect to the sensors.

I've had a read through some of the related topics on the forum and a lot seem to reference diagnostic software etc to disable this function.
I'm fairly fresh with the modern Citroens and thier quirks can someone please steer me in the right direction with this please. Or if someone in the NorthWest UK has the relevant software etc to disable this Help please!

Another issue although only minor is the wing mirrors don't fold auto or manually (using the switch) they just twitch very slightly, any insight into cause and fix would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

As for mirrors - 2 possibilities:

1) The wiring in between the door and the A Pillar is a weak spot as the door is opened and closed constantly - look for breaks here, but you'll need to remove the rubber protection first to see the wiring loom.

2) Check that the driver control pad connectors underside of the module have not worked loose.

As for TPMS, you can just get the dealership to re-pair them again - BUT they must all be done at the same time - as doing the one that appears faulty will not fix it. Ask the tech to pair them all again and that should solve it.

Thanks for the response!

Mirroa turned out to be the control pad connectors had badly oxidised, wing mirros (or ears as the daughter calls them) are now flapping happily!

I enquired with the local Citroen Stealer, they quoted £150-200 to investigate, and advised the likelihood is all the sensors need changing due to battery age or a replacement TMPS ECU.....

The batteries may well have expired as they're designed to last for about 10 years. I forgot we're coming up to 2025, so should of mentioned this. I mentioned about the re-pairing as I had all 4 of mine replaced under warranty as one blew out like a bullet on the dual carriageway and it could of killed a small child had this happened in town. So in my case when I had an intermittent issue, the repairing fixed it, as mine would only of been about 2-3 years old when it started happening.

Your dealer may disable it for you but beware of the legalities and insurance as TPMS was compulsory for all cars registered from January 2012!

As you suspected batteries had died, a local tyre company changed all 4 for £150 during tyre replacement, all working nicely now.

Thanks for your help!

Can you give any guidance on Diagbox I see a lot of people on here using it but can't see a thread regarding setup, and having looked online there are a lot of what appear to be Asian copies. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good news on your TPMS and that would be about the cost of one new sensor, so I just hope they sealed them up properly afterwards.

Diagbox is the proprietary diagnostic software used by PSA, and the hardware is often referred to as a 'Lexia 3' kit, which is the VCI that is used with a laptop. The hardware are all clones as the originals cost thousands £s so are not within the reach of the public and they're usually only leased by the dealerships.

The software has been 'modified' to allow they DIY er to use it, so can be awkward to install and is itself a very messy installation fraught with potential issues. There are several threads on the Forum, but to be honest as the software is constantly changing it means the info is rapidly out of date.

There are other tools out there, but you get what you pay for and each will have different levels of functionality.

The company that seems to sell a good Lexia clone is Easy Diagnostics. I have an earlier (ver B) unit from them, and it has been very useful. They have a 12 month aftercare service, and they honour this.
