Citroën c4 picasso automatic gearbox fault

Hi, I have a citroen C4 picasso automatic which drives absolutely fine except for occasionally it cuts out when driving and it comes up with gearbox fault on the dash. It usually starts straight back up again after a few seconds/minutes and then goes again fine. Is this going to be an expensive job to fix? Will it need a new gearbox put in or will it be a simple problem to resolve? Thanks

Depends if you have a proper automatic or the piloted manual gearbox version. Pop your VIN up if unsure and I'll confirm it, before we go any further.

We need to know your VIN to determine which type of automatic transmission is fitted.
Any diagnostic fault codes would also help.

This is an AMN8 Auto gearbox, so can't help with this one personally, but I know that U120981 is a comms fault with the Automatic Gearbox ECU (Data Invalid), so is likely to be a fault with the Intersystems CAN / harness or the gearbox ECU.

You also have 2 outstanding after-sales campaigns that have not been dealt with, so I assume you don't have it dealer-serviced...

I suggest you call them and book it in, work will be free, but you never know, some of these issues may be related, considering one of these relates to an engine harness. Just quote your VIN / Reg and the reference codes below:
