Low brake pads

Can anyone tell me if low brake pads can cause service light and engine fault warning light but no eml

Depends what car , but i will say yes , ive had this happen to a car of mine i think my citroen xsara 1.4i soon as i had front pads replaced all was ok, but i would still get it diagnosed just to see if there might be something else there playing up

If your brake pads are worn thin and if your car has wires to the pads to give a warning, then you could unplug the wires at the connectors and see if the warning goes. Damage to these wires where the insulation is worn off and if the bare wire touches metal may also suggest thin pads - in this case move the wires to test. I do not think any of this though would bring up an engine fault message, just a service one so a diagnostic may still be needed.

If you're car has brake sensor levels then it would give a low brake warning, it shouldn't give an EML or any other lights including engine warning fault. What makes you think it's the brakes at fault?

Well there's no eml And i know the epb can cause problems and it flashed up on the screen about parking brake so I was just wondering if the low pads on front were causing the service light and engine fault message
