C4 Picasso 2014 - Replacement of EGR

Unread post by zane2g2 »

Good morning all,

Sorry if this has already been asked, but couldn't a specific answer relating to my vehicle.

I've had the engine warning light come on, on my vehicle and had a garage run a diagnostic check (sorry didn't manage to get the codes).
I've been told there is issues with my EGR valve.
Mainly being that it's probably clogged up and needs cleaning or at the worse... replacing.
I purchased some EGR Cleaning spray yesterday and carried out the cleaning process as per the instruction.
It seemed to sort the issue yesterday afternoon, but the light has since come back on.
I'm now at the point where I guessed I need to replace it.
Could any one possible point me in the right area and have instruction on removing & refitting said EGR Valve.
Or if there is something else that I could try first?

Many thanks as always,
Zane

Which engine?

I'd want a bit more diagnosis before I plumped for a replacement - they're not that cheap. What codes were present, how does the live data look? Note that boost leaks and MAF faults can present as EGR 'issues'.

Hi Richard,

It's the B87 engine (1.6 HDi).
I don't believe there any boost leaks as the engine is seemingly run perfectly fine.
No hesitation when putting your foot done, and is not running under any limp mode.
I will have to go back to my mechanic and get him to run another diagnostic and get the codes.

Cheers

UPDATE
So I had a mechanic friend plug in his Snap On computer thing tonight and hopefully the pic that you see will show the codes.
He thinks the EGR Valve is either really clogged up or probably needs replacing.
Would anyone have a diagram or instruction on how to remove and replace please 😊
Cheers

Seems pretty comprehensive, could still be a wiring fault though... It should be the same as this one

If you post up the VIN (it will auto hide) I can look up the part number for you.

Proppa job,

Cheers Rich :-)

I'm at work at the moment so don't have my VIN no.
But on one of my previous posts I did disclose this info... not sure if you're able to see it?

Rich, :-)

You wouldn't happen to have a disassembly view of the scuttle panel / wiper blades area at all would you lol

This gives a good idea of the first part, obviously you won't need to remove the wiper motor!

Go as far as where he takes the motor out, then undo the 10mm either side at the edge, remove the brake reservoir, then you can remove the front cross member. As I recall you can then remove the air inlet scoop, it may just pull off, or there might be a couple of nuts to remove.
