It's been a good and busy day today...

I started off with a 10K run, the subject of a few atmospheric photos I posted in the POTD thread here:

Then it was off to a clinic for a deep medical check as part of my participation in the 'Our Future Health' project. Full details here:

A bit like an MoT for the body and I'm very happy to say I passed with both a clean sheet and comments that I'm good for my age

Then, after a trip to the Post Office to send that rubbish camera back I could at last get stuck into some car work.

I refitted Bluebell's driver's door card after checking the central locking actuator was properly linked to the mechanism and working...

Mick did a fantastic job of sticking the fabric back on to the card and it looks an order of magnitude better than it did Thanks Mick!

I then realigned the door on the striker as it was always a bit out. A final job on the door was to lubricate the window channels with a bit of silicone spray...

Whilst looking around the car, I noticed the tracking didn't quite look right and a measurement proved it... I must have mis-read the tape measure when I made my last attempt

Preparations were made for doing the job and then bad light stopped play... Work will resume tomorrow

Shame about the Kodak camera Jim. I bought one some years ago and it was pretty good until I left it on the roof of daughter's C3 and drove off.
Have a little Fuji that was my late wife's that is pretty decent but doesn't like taking photo's through windows.

Your 'Our Future Health' sounds a bit like the UK Biobank'. I'll have to as my son about it, he knows about that sort of thing (medical researcher).

In a nutshell Steve, it's to look at a large cross-section of the UK population to get an impression of the nation's general health, issues and likely future needs. One test on our bloods will be to analyse our DNA for various health problems that may be genetic or might potentially happen...

All sponsored by the NHS. We were paid a tenner for our trouble...

I might have a go at that. Although I participate in the UK Biobank surveys I don't attend the evaluation centre any more, getting to it is a bit fraught now.
If it is in a hospital close by, or the primary health care centre that is a mile from me then it would be OK.

I find it a bit of a paradox, however not wanting to introduce politics and stir up sleeping vehemoths I'll just say odd that the NHS is spending our money on ways to prolong life while the government is being paid to debate how to end it!!

The clinic I attended yesterday Steve, was a mobile unit set up in our local B&Q car park so very easy to get to.

Had to giggle as the main sliding doors were firmly shut and we had to enter and leave via a small side door. The reason was soon to be seen. The receptionist sat right by the big doors and would have received a big blast of freezing air every time they opened!

This project needs 5 million participants. At a tenner each, it's not cheap.. Or maybe a good investment, who knows

A busy day today

Autumn joined me at parkrun...

And then we went for a coffee

She's drinking a 'babychino' - not real coffee... She's lively enough as it is... Goodness knows what caffiene would do to her

Home again and I put Strawberry back to summer mode, given the nice warm weather

And then I reset Bluebell's tracking... After lots of fine adjustments and lots and lots of measurements I'm happy it's now good and correct

As it was so warm, a bike ride was called for. So warm in fact, I did not need full gloves and could ride in light autumn kit

I had another quick look at the central locking issue on Bluebell's passenger door before the light failed but it's going to need a full disassembly and I need both a full day, good light and decent weather for that...

I have my new camera and it's good... I'll properly put it through its paces tomorrow at Junior parkrun. A good idea of its quality can be seen in the 'summer/winter' photo above
