Unusual reworking of a Citroen 2CV.

Unread post by Hell Razor5543 »

I just came across a little post on Instagram about this, so I looked a bit further into it.

True, but it got him back to civilisation. I know that I could NOT have done that.

I honestly wouldn't like to say whether I could or couldn't have escaped from that situation, but I can say I wouldn't have been in the Sahara in the first place!! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

My first year at secondary school, I had to do a "French project". I did it about the 2cv. I wrote to Citroen and they sent me loads of stuff I wish I'd kept. There were many documented incidents like this where a 2cv had broken badly, and the crew had cobbled it together to get back to civilisation.

One particular one had the chassis snap totally behind at the B post. They did away with the front half of the body, sat on the back seat and had pushed the front of the chassis under the rear half, tied it together and sat in the back seat driving along in a 8ft long 2cv. Other tales of filling leaking and damaged gearboxes with bananas etc.

Makes a change from sawdust, another substance added to failing gearboxes - although usually to sell the car to an unsuspecting punter...

Not applicable to a 2CV but an egg in the rad is a known 'get you home' way to seal up leaks...
