Thinking more of the antiquated old fashioned terms that still get occasionally referred to as I do on occasions with the Gas Board, Leccy Board and as Jim did this morning for the "Water Board". In my youth in the 60's I'm sure the School Board "Man" was a thing dedicated to round up truant players!

Kicked off as the British Board of Film Censors in 1912, ans still carry the "Board" bit to today.

Tangental bit of history here, including some of the "criteria" in the early days...

When T. P. O’Connor was appointed President of the BBFC, one of his first tasks was to give evidence to the Cinema Commission of Inquiry, set up by the National Council of Public Morals in 1916. He summarised the BBFC's policy by listing forty-three grounds for deletion

1. Indecorous, ambiguous and irreverent titles and subtitles
8. Unnecessary exhibition of under-clothing
12 Indecorous dancing
21 Scenes holding up the King’s uniform to contempt or ridicule
28 The effects of vitriol throwing
42. Scenes laid in disorderly houses

The original National Film Board of Canada was set up as : "An agency of the Government of Canada, the NFB produces and distributes documentary films, animation, web documentaries, and alternative dramas."

Is the nearest we've got over here a cross between the BBC and the BFI ?

Peridot

Peridot (/?p?r??d?t, -?do?/ PERR-ih-dot, -??doh), sometimes called chrysolite, is a yellow-green transparent variety of olivine. Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color.

Peridot can be found in mafic and ultramafic rocks occurring in lava and peridotite xenoliths of the mantle. The gem occurs in silica-deficient rocks such as volcanic basalt and pallasitic meteorites. Along with diamonds, peridot is one of only two gems observed to be formed not in Earth's crust, but in the molten rock of the upper mantle.[1] Gem-quality peridot is rare on Earth's surface due to its susceptibility to alteration during its movement from deep within the mantle and weathering at the surface.[2] Peridot has a chemical formula of (Mg,Fe)2SiO4.
