Hi Guys,
I do have an EAT8 gearbox, currently over 50,000 km, and I'm wondering if you know what the oil change interval is? I'm getting mixed information from the web, some are saying its liftime or 60k change,
Thanks,

Re: EAT8 Gearbox Oil
DS Automobiles officially say they are sealed for life, so in that respect it is correct. However in reality not changing the gearbox oil is nuts and saving up problems.
I'd say any time now to change it, but be aware you can only change about two thirds of the oil in one go as much of the oil remains in the torque converter, so to get a proper change it should be repeated a few thousand miles later, unless you're happy to leave it a bit longer and do another change a bit further down the road.

Re: EAT8 Gearbox Oil
Lifetime doesn't sound very convincing anyway
Thanks for the advice. Is there any chance to do this on my own? I usually change the engine oil every 10k km in my driveway (of course, I recycle the old one). I thought I might look into this as well.
I've heard that for VW DSG transmissions, the gearbox should be filled completely, not following the manufacturer's recommendation. Would that be the case here?

Re: EAT8 Gearbox Oil
It depends - there is a specific procedure for changing the oil on these - the gearbox oil has to be the correct temperature first of all and you will need a professional diagnostic tool like Diagbox and equipment to monitor the temperature, but also to reset the oil wear counter too. The Gearbox ECU is adaptive and changes the operation and performance of the gearbox as the oil ages. That's why it needs the counter resetting.
So not something I would start with out knowing the complete operation and having the correct equipment.

Re: EAT8 Gearbox Oil
Have you got any recommendations for which oil to use for the gearbox? I have a AMN8 gearbox, only ones i can find are Ravenol ATF T-ULV & Febi Bilstein ATF 183413. Other brands seem hard to find in the UK. Motul ATF VI is recommended on their website for the gearbox but the viscosities seem higher than the other 2 brands mentioned

Re: EAT8 Gearbox Oil
No, you musn't use any standard transmission oil. For this gearbox you need specifically AW2 Oil:

Hi all,
Did you managed to reset the oil wear counter? I am still struggling to find a way to do it.
Thanks

Re: EAT8 Gearbox Oil
You can't do it without the correct Diagnostic tool (a professional kit with the correct software like Diagbox that has those capabilities).

Re: EAT8 Gearbox Oil
Hi Marc,
Thanks for you replay. I do have Diagbox and I have attached photos in my other topic. I even paid for a token from service box and installed the latest version of original Diagbox ( used with cloned Chinese interface) and still couldn't find that menu to do the reset. Maybe I have to go with the Dealer to sort it for me. I am not sure if they will, as they state the gearbox is "sealed for life ".
Thanks
