Ha ha not me!

There's a joke about Yorkshire folks legendary "tightness" along the lines of reusing loo roll (or possibly attempts to make use of both sides!?) but I'll try nog to kick start a Lancashire Vs Yorkshire type battle! :)

I'm tight though - cleaning cloth of choice for the switch cleaning task was old (washed!!!!!) underwear - not bad given cotton but elastic everywhere.

Benzalkonium chloride (BAC50) taken down to about 3% dilution is good at killing off algae and seems to be fairly safe. Apparently. 8-[ But obviously you should seek a grown-ups advice before listening to what some random bloke on a forum says :-D

If I were you Matt, I'd treat that as advice from the forum member who has probably come across more mould and algae, and dealt with it, than most of us will see in a lifetime!! :-D

Ha ha! I don't yet know the back story, but it's pretty amusing from my (uninformed) position all the same! :-D
Thank you random bloke on the internet! I'll look up some BAC50 at some point in the near future

Apparently....... about 3% to clear it out, 1% for storage / use. It's actually used in an awful lot of applications in low doses, I think hospitals may use it in certain circumstances - I've even seen it in the ingredients for eye wash

Good info, thank you.

I got halfway reading the Wikipedia article on it and it's applications and decided there wasn't much it didn't seem to be added to! :)

Just looked at my squirt-it-in-yer-eye stuff and there is none there but what is is disconcerting. Caustic bloody soda. No wonder it stings.

I will make the point that it shouldn't be used carelessly as it's particularly un-good to aquatic things.

To be honest, I'm not sure Eye Algae is a thing (and sure as hell am too squeamish to Google it to find out!! - I've realised there's things I am much happier remaining completely oblivious too!) but I would guess I'd probably glad not to have it

Didn't it feature as a plot line in a 1970s Dr Who ? :rofl2:

Nevermind messing around with screen wash, time for some actual car maintenance!

A quick wash (mucky enough car fixing without a filthy cat to get hold of!)

Then bottom ball joint time for the Grey 308
The scores:
39" breaker bar: 1,
14 year old ball joint: nil!

More updates later, something to eat then, weather permitting, carrying on with the job
