Noisy clicking driveshaft...questions...
If it clicks on a roundabout in the UK which side is going? The one on the inside of the corner?
How long have we got if we do nothing for a month or two and what happens in the end?
Has anyone got a part number for the whole thing complete?
Is there such a thing as a recon one? Or is it new only if one can find them? Nothing on the Chevronics website.
I know there are two sizes (ie diameters of shaft, bigger for later bigger engines, thanks Phil) but apart from that are they all they same with the same number of teeth etc? Ours is a late G Special with a 1129cc engine.
Or...do you have any good ones surplus to requirements lurking in your garage?

Re: GS drive shafts
The clicking is not generally related to load on the joint, so you can't really draw any conclusions about which side - having said that, it's possible that the joint will click when more heavily loaded which would imply if it only does it on roundabouts, it will be the NS joint. It will get steadily worse, and could eventually lose drive, but by then it would be ridiculously noisy and driving you mad!

Re: GS drive shafts
Do you get the clicking sound if you turn the wheel by hand with the car raised on stands?
I believe the later shafts have 25 splines, and the earlier ones 22. My 73 took the earlier type. In my case I opted to rebuild the tripod ends as I only had to redo the boots.
Französische Klassiker has refabricated ones, but the 25-tooth one for later cars is currently out of stock. There's also this Youtube video, where the poster claims to have used this site to find replacement parts. I'm not sure any of them are still available, but there's a lot of manufacturers, so try it and report back!
