Jumpy 2011 (2-Gen before Facelift) ANDROID AUTO/APPLE CARPLAY - HOW?

Unread post by jumpy2011 »

Hello,

I am new to Citroen. I just got a Citroen Jumpy 2011 2 Generation before the facelift. The car is currently not in me, so I can't see what is the navigation system version / type.

I want Android Auto on the original display. What are the options? I am researching for a interface/box, basically alternative to Mr12VOLT/Carsara.. etc, but I can't find anything. Everything I find are aftermarket Android screens (basically a tablet) that are replacing the radio panel control unit, but If I remove the radio controls, then what will happen with the original screen?
This is the original screen I am talking about, photo is from the internet because the car is currently not in me.

If your current system does not have Android Auto or CarPlay, then it's 99.9% unlikely you can do anything about it except for an aftermarket unit - and this means usually losing the interface for your vehicle configuration / options that you would normally activate via the existing Head Unit.

If you provide your VIN I can see what Telematics system you currently have. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

I have to say this looks very much like the MyWay (RNEG) unit from Harman Becker and these are far too early to have these features. You'll need a vehicle from about 2017 onwards for these features.

I suspected that it will be not possible to be done natively, I was researching for a car interface that will go in the middle, so you can switch between the original system and the aftermarket via a button combination (mr12volt). This is how it is on my current car, which is not from the PSA Group.

Here is the VIN:

Oops! Actually it's an even older system than that! You have an RT5 (RT4 ECO) unit, so definitely not compatible at all. Most aftermarket wireless CarPlay system require the original system to be CarPlay enabled, so bear that in mind.

I don't think any of those Mr12volt interfaces will work with PSA vehicle architecture.

So the only way is to install aftermarket double din system? By doing this the original screen will be basically non-existant right?

You will loose access to any vehicle configuration that you used via the RT5 controls and any trip computer info that was displayed / temperature / climate settings / display - Obviously I can't tell you what it anything an aftermarket kit will provide as these differ considerably.

As your colour display (which you will lose too) is mounted on the top of the dash, you may be able to get away with a single DIN, but depends on where you are going to attempt to mount the Android screen.
