Glad to have come up with something of interest.

I've not watched many of Furious Driving's videos, seems to know his stuff. Seems also a pal of HubNut (so the YouTube algorithm recommends the furious videos based on my watching of HubNut)

I didn't realise the NATO connection (it popped in to my head it was a joke about how likely the offspring of a Minor Traveller and the XK was - i.e. as incongruous as a fox and a bat having a baby together!! )

That's very reminiscent of our (as in Australia's - I haven't personally owned one) Ford Falcon XD & XE wagons, built from 1979 - 84. V8 was an option, so no trouble getting up to our national speed limit of 100km/h .

Most of them now are in the hands of backpackers, who will do a lap of Australia, camping out (or in the wagon) before seling the wagon on to the next group of backpackers. Hoperfully the old girls get an oil change before going on the next lap of our wide brown land .

Occasionally good stuff is "lost in links". The linked article from Classic and Sportscar is about the Mark II Zephyr conversions by Abbotts Farnham, but towards the end they consider the Mark III, and Mark IV.

The MkIII Ford Zephyr and Zodiac estates were popular police cars. With a clean side profile and a one-piece, top-hinged GRP tailgate, they were perhaps the best-looking Farnhams. They were less popular than the MkIIs – but widely used by motorway police – with some 4322 built, mostly Zephyrs and Zodiacs plus 725 Zephyr 4s, the Consul badge having been dropped.

As we know from my subsequent 1959 brochure and, Alec's post in Australia the MkII Zephyr Shooting Brake was indeed a thing. Over in the UK Zephyr Mk II Estates were provided by the Conversion route whether official or not, through this lot

An estate version of Ford’s MkIV Zephyr/Zodiac was much trickier to build. In 1966, Abbott struggled to adapt the Farnham estate-car proportions to the new-shape MkIV.

I loved the shape and style of the MkIV Zodiacs. The four headlamps and false grill between them (the real air intake was below the bumper) was sublime to my eyes.

I totally agree about the grill there Paul and it adds further weight to the benefit of putting similar false grills on the new EVs from Ford.
