Dispatch 2012 1.6 additive tank problem

Unread post by Jandavie »

DPF at risk of clogging message came up
Cooling fan is on constantly when engine running and goes off about 5 mins after switching ignition off
Randomly doesn’t start back up as though battery is flat but then after I’ve waited about 10 minutes it will start back up and be fine
Upon inspection of the additive tank it appears that the pump bit has been dragging along the ground and half of it has worn away - should there be a sensor in it?
Sorry for long rant but I’m female and can’t find any answers to my problem!

err... if it's worn away. you'll need more than a sensor. If it is the additive tank it will likely be useless if badly damaged. I think you'll need to get it looked at as if there's no additive fluid being added to the fuel tank, then DPF regeneration won't happen unless the engine exhaust gasses are near 550 °C, and this really won't happen unless on sustained journeys like dual carriageways or motorways of a good stretch of road where you're not stopping and starting all the time.

If the DPF can't regenerate, then it will start to clog and then if left too long, it will need to come off and be cleaned out and the car will likely go into limp home mode. So not something to be left and it really needs looking at to see what other damage has occurred (if any).

I'll need your VIN to answer that. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.
