Surely not brake fluid, how about shock absorber oil? :)

That's the one. Appears the shock has failed somehow at the bottom, poss corroded through - never seen this before. I think I have only had one damper replaced over all the cars I have owned(*), and that was because the bush was stuffed at the bottom.

* OK, quite a few of them were hydropneumatic!

I've never had one fail on a road car but I went through a few on rally cars as a result of bouncing over rocks!! In those days the shock oil was thicker than EP90 but I have no idea what its actual grade was. We used to say "You've slimed your near/offside!" when spotted at a control! :-D

As expected 😜

It could have had the decency to wait till after the test - as the 3008 did last year when it broke a spring immediately after the test - like on the way home!

3008 ticked over 100k; fitted a new headlamp bulb and the other number plate bulb on the C4. Then I was going to say nothing else to report, but...

Remembered I have to re-install the spare on the C4. Had a long running saga with a tyre going down, leaking from the rim. I took it somewhere, but they did the wrong one, so had to take it somewhere else. I took the spare out to put it on so I could take the wheel up, but the valve was knackered on it, and it was very rusty. So I got a new valve, and cleaned it up and shoved a couple of coats of hammerite on it. Then went to put it back in, but the winch cable won't come back down. I assume it has got a bit twisted inside - it might come out if pulled on whilst unwound, but my arms aren't long enough to do it myself, and then I was out of action following the bike incident, so it is still lying about in the boot. Will get it back on one day!

I trust you are now all good again after the bike incident Richard and there's no lasting after-effects...

The first time I saw the spare wheel winch and cable, on a C4 SpaceCadet, it confused the heck out of me. I found a rattle gun, used very gently, was a great way of operating it ;)

Spare was refitted to the C4, with me pulling on the cable and Dillon unwinding it it came out no trouble.

You will have seen a new gearknob is required on the 3008, but the old one is reluctant to be removed. I suspect it will have to come off in pieces. Not clear to me what is actually holding it on, can't believe it is only a friction fit on the shaft, there must be a clip of some sort.

My wife reported that something was hanging down under the C4 - turns out to be the small heatshield on the edge of the adblue tank. It has rotted away where it is riveted on - I had previously wired it back on as one of the 3 fixing was broken, but the other 2 have let go - it was only still there because I had wired it on! Now wired on in 3 places... However whilst under it on the ramps I noticed that both side of the front undertray were broken and hanging down, so these have been cable tied back on - but also the centre exhaust mount has broken off the pipe. Don't fancy trying to weld it back on, I've had a go at making a clamp round the pipe bolted to the old support, but not right yet, will have to try again. This bit of pipe is available as a repair section and was fixed a while ago when the joint broke off at the front - however, it contains the NOX sensor, so replacement is potentially an expensive day out if the sensor won't come out!

About the BX forum. I had a scam email trying to blackmail me into sending loadsamoney to some bitcoin site, they said they had all my details even quoting my password, the only site I've used the password quoted is on the BX forum.
Did they hack the BX site or myself? :x

Eric, I will ask Mike - but pretty sure there has been no breach on the forum side.

On the C4 I found that Autodoc do a repair clamp for the exhaust so I have ordered one

So I've ordered one. Postage was more than the clamp, but couldn't find it anywhere else easily.

These sites don't actually save the passwords in the database, just an MD5 hash derived from the password from which it it practically impossible to recover the original password. In fact I don't think the unencrypted password is ever sent to the site, it only lives in your browser. So it is probable that the password was gained or guessed through some other means.

If I were you, I would be changing all my passwords and not saving them (unencrypted) on the same machine.

The £7 clamp is a good fit, and easy enough to install, although I did have to remove the rubber and cut the end off the old clamp to remove the pin as it had a massive swage on the end.

The £9 box was rather over spec, but at least I feel like I got my money's worth 🤣
