I have Peugeot 308 SW II, 1.6 HDI 68 KW and I want to change the oil in the manual 5-speed transmission. Please I have a one question. Where is the hole for filling the gear oil?
Question: Why do you want to fill/top-up/ change the gearbox oil. Unless you have a leak thru a drive-shaft and its showing symptoms of being very low or even empty - noises like a whining (sounds a bit like a turbo spooling up) or similar, or you suspect its been contaminated with water ingress, and thats pretty rare on that gearbox housing, it should last the lifetime of the car. I did mine last year due to the previous owner not realising the half-shaft was leaking and running it with an empty box and its a pretty easy job. Fill-plug is behind the arch liner(which will need removing) and is obvious. Top up with a funnel connected to a peace of suitable pipe and fill until it runs out of the filler hole. its actually no harder to do a drain/refill. Open filler hole, remove drain plug(bottom of box), drain and refill with a good oil. Put back together and job done. It wont harm to refill it but unless you,ve a good reason to suspect a problem, why?
You should never fill it to the top - the amount of oil replaced should equal the amount drained.
There are specific quantities depending on the actual gearbox variant and on the operation - i.e. a drain operation will require less than a dismantling overhaul.
@ Czechia: If you want to know the correct quantity, pop your VIN up as these gearboxes come in different variants and have different capacities - you don't want to over-fill it!

There is plenty of room in the gearbox case even if filled to the top to allow for expansion due to heat. The fill hole has been designed in that position by Peugeot to allow for over-filling not to happen or cause issues. I should know because I have been rebuilding unvented race gearboxes for 40+years
