Not everyone will be able to replicate my experience but I have recorded it warts and all in the Bargain Basement Electric Thread with nothing left out and so far, the "warts" have been few and far between.

My first Zoe was ten years old and the battery still fine only showing 1% degradation, I only moved up to the second one for the extra range and to higher spec.
Robert Llewellin on Fully Charged reckons on any EV built after 2013 the battery will outlast the rest of the car.

Since a thread has already been started I might as well use it to add my experiences since purchase.

Thanks Tony a couple of minutes read of a post from someone with first hand experience in my book is far more valuable than one of the journo reviews when they get given a car for a couple of hours and warble on about how big the boot is and how many cupholders it has.

Home installations of charging points are in my view unnecessarily expensive often perversely made more so by the grants, and the add on unnecessary "smartness" of the boxes, but I see over the longer term the initial outlay is beneficial for convenience. Not everyone wants to work the Bargain Basement installation like me. I currently just use the three pin plug granny charger on a dedicated circuit, granted on a small (by 2024 standards) 24kWh Leaf.

I might suggest you start a blog in the Blogs section before this thread once again gets submerged and lost through intermittent activity within the Citroen section. Most of the time not much to report hopefully, but at least should people be interested in going for a second hand e C4 they could find your blog and ask some questions of your experience.

Thanks Neil, But to be honest everything I wrote you have covered already. I think these are the perfect car to dip your feet into the ev world. I feel Citroen have really put a very conservatively designed EV solution into a pretty package. The C4 is already a very nice looking car.

This guy is excellent. Everything he says tallies up with your view and mine. His wife owned the car for a couple of years but the range didn't suit her commute. He is a professional reviewer but I think he is very thorough and accurate.

I am going to stick my arse out here I looked at the DS5 at one point. I thought yes great. 2.0HDI with the battery for around town. But I spoke to my trusty independent Citroen guys. This car is like the XM. Citroen trying to create a Mercedes or luxury sports car without the proper research and testing. Everything is over complicated and ill thought out. This was just to have a battery car of some sort but its the type of car that would put customers off Citroen for life.

The E-C4 is a 'Ford Escort' of EV's with style. I am hoping as Neil has outlined this is tried and tested technology. Mainstream design with lots of basic parts. The battery yes is a concern but I am guessing if there is an issue in 8yrs time there will be repair processes in place. i.e. dead cells will be replaced. Of course if it turns out not to be the case I will have made a mistake. But I think or hope that the price level means the loss will not be life changing!

I was in the ICE camp like yourself for all the reasons you outline but once you try I think you might reconsider. Especially at the secondhand price levels in the UK.

Don't know how Neil is surviving with the granny charger. Has to be the 7KW charger to make life a pleasure. 80,000miles is great to see. Mine has 11K so looking positive.

That’s one reason why I was pleased to see their 2 model only choice of the e-c3 about £19 and £20K respectively for the higher range version.

Both have the Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension and the same size as the new C3. For that sort of money you could afford to take a pop and be happy if you got the 8 years out of it.
