X7 wheel query

Unread post by Bandit12 »

Hi Guys, I've a query re swapping rear wheels and front wheels around on my 2009 X7.

Will putting rear wheels on front axle and front wheels on rear axle upset the tyre pressure sensors and light up the dashboard like a christmas tree?!!

Reason is front tyres are half worn and rear tyres are almost new. All tyres are the same brand, size and spec with no damage, cuts or uneven tread wear.

Any advice is appreciated

I've done this and all that has happened so far is that the dashboard shows that e.g "front right tyre deflated" is really the rear right.

On the X7 the sensors are positional and recorded as such, so yes, you'll get an incorrect location warning.

To avoid this either physically move the tyres to the desired rims or re-pair the sensors (all 4) using Diagbox.

This isn't an issue with most later 'indirect' Tyre under-inflation system, they don't provide positional information, just deflation and puncture alerts.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.
