C5 X7 woowoo noise

Unread post by steveclv »

So my C5 is exceptionally quiet on good roads but I am starting to hear what I can only describe as a medium pitch woowoo noise that increases with engine speed but is also affected when the suspension deflects over bumps.
It's not wheel bearings as they tend to rumble, so I am thinking it might be driveshaft/cv related.
There is no noise when I drive lock to lock.
Watching YT videos, I did see that there is some sort of a driveshaft bearing on the right hand side - are these known to fail at all?
Apart from that I'm at a bit of a loss to track it down - it's not making the car drive any differently - just that I can now hear it :)
Thanks

Problem solved!!
I went for some new tyres today as the old Michelin Primacy 3 fronts were down to 2mm and I have 3000 miles to do over the next 3 weeks - drove to the service centre listening to woowoo all the way - on the way back with new Falkans - nothing! Completely silent.
