Peugeot 308 SW II (1.6 BHDI) - intermittent no turbo pressure

Unread post by bus92 »

Hello everyone!

I've got a Peugeot 308 SW II with a 1.6 BlueHDI (88kW - BHZ), and about 220.000 kms on the clock. I have experienced a strange issue, and would ask for advice:
About a month ago, after the second start in the city, on a very-very hot day, I've noticed, that the car is weak, as if it would lack turbo pressure. After stopping in about 5kms, and checking with diagnostics (Autel MAXIAP 200), I was able to verify, that the measured turbo pressure is indeed sitting at 1Bar, whereas the set pressure by the control unit is changing while driving.
I could find nothing by looking at the hoses around the turbo, or the solenoid, everything looked fine. The interesting part is that I've driven around for about 10kms, multiple startups, cooldowns, etc, the issue was persistent, and no check engine lights, or visible error codes were present. I then parked the car, and went for vacation, knowing I have a service appointment at a PSA specialist anyhow after vacation. (It was time for regular interval service and dual mass flywheel+clutch to be changed.)

So when I came home, I've driven the car to the service, and noticed on the road, that the issue is gone! Turbo is seemingly working as it was... I've told the service about this issue, they've done a diag, and driven the car, looked around, but found nothing regarding this (no errors in diagnostics, no nothing). After the service work, I was using the car for a few weeks now, and never actually experienced the issue again.

So here I'd need the advice:
  • What do you guys think can be the reason for this "intermittent" issue? Is it a dying solenoid, or some problem with the hosing? Any other ideas?
Would you recommend changing the hoses of the solenoid as they're not so expensive, or there is no point of doing this, until an issue with them clearly manifests?
Btw, do you think that the hoses can be replaced without any special tools? As I can see, the parts needed are on the diagram below.

Thanks for any pointers!
