Ok I took the plunge and went electric for our second car. Still have the trusty C5 2.0HDI 2016 model also.
I got pulled in to it as our daughter required a car and we ended up as softies selling our C4 2013 1.6HDI to her.
Briefly I love the electric and Citroen have really turned out a practical, sensible mid-size EV but as per usual with Citroen there are foibles! The link for navigation or infotainment updates often is unreachable. The updates often fail at the last minute. You have to start again. It goes on for ages and performing the update in the car is very slow.
You also have to use the USB-C port for updates and android auto. Of course it doesn't mention this anywhere!
The My Citroen app is dreadful. A brief look at other auto makers and it would seem Citroen have just ignored this important area. It will annoy people and put them off buying again.
The only thing it seems to be good at is sending you notifications of your trips. I cannot find the settings to adjust maximum charge to try and help preserve the battery. Does it exist?
Am I missing something? Is there some hope on the way that they have put some good software engineers into resolving this?
Last question. Looking at the specs the battery is 50KW but the useable charge is 45-46KW. It would be great if this was by design to prevent owners constantly charging to 100%. But I can find nothing to confirm this anywhere. Does anybody know if this is what the engineers have designed in? If so can I just ignore the requirement to only charge to 80% generally as protection is built in?
Hope it doesn't sound too negative, I am delighted with the car.

That sounds about it, they mislead you with range info based on a full charge and then recommend you not to charge it beyond 80% of capacity for the following 2 reasons:
1) 10-80% is relatively quick to charge, but from 80% to 100% it takes a lot longer to charge as in simple terms, the fuller the battery charge is the longer it takes to absorb energy.
2) The other thing is longevity. Long term battery health is an issue where if you keep charging it to full (in common with household lithium batteries like drills, phones etc.), over time the ability to hold a charge diminishes much faster than if you were to only charge it to about 80%.

Re: Citroen E-C4 Navigation updates and My Citroen App
Thanks Marc I get that but I would like somebody from Citroen to confirm that this is how the charging is working because then there is no need to worry when charging it as it would be impossible to over charge it. Hoping that is how they implemented it as it will be a PITA trying to adjust charging times to ensure one stays within those parameters. I think all manufacturers are guilty of giving the full range on 100%. They should be forced to quote 80% range.GiveMeABreak wrote: 15 Aug 2024, 12:32 That sounds about it, they mislead you with range info based on a full charge and then recommend you not to charge it beyond 80% of capacity for the following 2 reasons:

Any attempt to go to the update site today has failed. Server not found. Really poor.
