2009 C4 1.6 HDi instrument displays
I have now acquired a C4 hatchback built in 2009. The build sheet indicates that the car is equipped with an integrated digital rev counter. I have so far not been able to display it at all. I have been through all the steering wheel menus and found no place to access it. The current display to the left of the instrument display panel is:
Jim is bringing his diagbox tomorrow and I wondered if anyone can give me an idea of where to look and see what is what?

Re: 2009 C4 1.6 HDi instrument displays
I think someone has been there before, Mick - that looks to me like the early display, where the rev counter should have been on the steering column, but that is not listed separately for your car, so I think it should have the later display which was in the pic Marc posted elsewhere the other day. Part no seems to be 6103C1 (or C2 configured) - I can't easily find one for sale at the moment...

Re: 2009 C4 1.6 HDi instrument displays
Thanks Richard, I am not surprised at that conclusion as I am of a similar opinion. Given that a previous owner installed an android system for the audio and nav which needed a special centre panel it may well be too modded to revert. I guess it depends on whether the newer display fits in the same way as my current one.:
Any idea if mountings and connections are the same?

I wasn't aware of the android mod, Mick - and have to subsequently add that these sorts of mods can disable other functionality, especially the original head unit that would provide some interface for vehicle configuration options.
This being the case, I think, you'll have to live with the current setup or revert back if you want the original systems and functionality.

Re: 2009 C4 1.6 HDi instrument displays
Thanks Marc, the only thing I want to add is the rev counter and I may be able to circumvent that with a bluetooth OBD2 dongle and an app on the tablet to display live data. I have already tried that out and it works except the dongle stops me clipping in the front centre ash tray/storage box. I may see if I can reposition the OBD Socket slightly to allow the dongle to lay flat and then clip the box in over it. It is not a perfect solution but better than no rev counter for me!

Re: 2009 C4 1.6 HDi instrument displays
Well the solution has been implemented. The display is a little 'in your face' but I can play with that. Simply a matter of removing part of the base of the box to allow the dongle to come through.
For the benefit of the sharp eyed I took the video before setting up the parameters which are now done so the speedo will read in MPH, although I have the added benefit of using Kph on my next continental trip, if it is in this car of course!!

On a more serious note Mick, where does it pick up the tacho signal from? Is the panel connected to the CAN Bus?

No Jim, it is an app that reads the bluetooth OBD2 dongle plugged into the normal OBD2 socket. So it reads the bishops in the same way as diagbox. You can see it blinking in the last part of the video

Re: 2009 C4 1.6 HDi instrument displays
The rev counter is not in the main instrument panel, it has its own standalone display behind the steering wheel. The LCD displays can fail though & it doesn’t display the revs. There is nothing to be configured, it should always be there.
A nice touch is if you hit the rev limiter the display changes from orange to red.

Later model it was removed I think and moved over to the centre display, but confirmed it's not shown as there under Mick's VIN.

Re: 2009 C4 1.6 HDi instrument displays
It turns out I haven't fully solved it with the app I installed. Having just popped down to Elstree I now know it only runs for 5 or so mins before freezing and offering me the chance to subscribe to the 'pro version' which has no limits!! Hmm time to look around for a genuinely free app to support the dongle!!
