Have you been 'brimming' when filling up with fuel? This can be caused when filling past the third click.

Allow the tank to get to drop to about a quarter of a tank, then fill up to the first click. In time it may come back by repeating this for the next few fill-ups.

Hi the gauge on the dash is reading half full, yes I filled up yesterday, it even overflowed out of the filler pipe, still showed only half full. By the click do you mean it is the click on the petrol pump. if so will try that next time.

Have you tried the battery reset procedure?

I had a similar problem here. You'll find a solution there that has worked for me. Hope it helps.
