Citroen Dispatch language set to French

Unread post by Kwaka »

Just taken ownership of a 2008 Dispatch that will need some work!
My first question is that the warning messages are all in French. Is there a way to change this to English?
Thanks
Dave

Use the radio (this is likely an RD4) to go into the menu and set the KM/H MP/H and temp units as well as language.

No - that's the issue when somebody changes the head unit - you loose all configuration options. The only way round it is to replace it with the original radio, and then make the configuration changes. As you've now gathered these are more than just radios. :)

Thank you so much for your help.
Can you buy any original radio? Sorry for the dumb questions!

The first thing is to determine the correct head unit it was fitted with at the factory before I answer that. So Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff. Once I confirm, you will at least be able to pick a second hand one up. It will need VIN-coding to the vehicle before it works properly, otherwise it will keep beeping.

Sure thank you.
The vin is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

I think the U in your vin should be a V. If you edit your post and make the change the vin will be obscured.

Ok, so confirmed you had an RD4 Head Unit originally fitted.

Thank you.
So would something like this be compatible?

And based on your previous comments how would I get the head unit coded to my vehicle?

No, that's an RD45 (look at the label on the unit). That won't work as it needs configuring and a different display screen.

You'd need this:

Thank you and how would I get this recoded to work with my vehicle?

If you are thinking of restoring it permanently, then anyone with a Lexia VCI kit or Diagbox should be able to do this for you or a dealer can VIN code it for you.

A couple of comments:

The RD4 came with different front panels for different PSA models, if thinking of a permanent installation, then at least check that the width and panel colour match your facia.

The installer of the aftermarket radio may have discarded the original mounting hardware behind the dash

For a temporary install (just to change the language) you don't need to have the radio coded.
