However, I couldn't say no to a bargain last week & now own a 2015 high roof Custom Transit for a knockdown price. The problem is excessive smoke. I believe the turbo is gubbed, but can get a recon for under £500. However, looking at where the turbo sits, I think I would be better off lifting the engine & gearbox out to get at the stupid thing because of where they've hidden it

Anyone ever had the despair of removing a turbo from this absolute tower of excrement? Any short cuts or tips before I spin into the sewer of despair?
EDIT: It's the FWD model, so turbo hidden about 14 miles back in the high dark recesses of the engine...
