OBd2 VCI help needed please

Unread post by parkemar »

Hi All,

I'm new here, any help is much appreciated.

I have C3 Picasso which has a fault saying that the DPF fluid is low. The Service light is on and I'm worried that the car will go into limp mode or stop completely - is this a valid concern?

I have refilled the bag but I still need to clear the code. I tried using a Launch C Reader 129 EVO diagnostic tool but although I was able to tell it that I had replaced the fluid the fault code still won't clear. I then read that Diagbox was what was needed (is this the case?), so I have downloaded that software (9.68) to my laptop and bought a cable to connect it to the car but think I've bought the wrong type (it's a godiag nano J2534). The Diagbox program can't see the cable.

So, my question is, is there a special able that I need? Or any other advice?

Grateful for any help.

Thanks,

Martin

PS the fault code is P15B3

You need a proper 'Lexia 3' VCI to work with Diagbox.

Bags type systems are designed to be replaced not refilled, due to the high risk of leakage when removing and reinserting. Only reservoir systems are designed to be gravity filled.

The additive system has no physical measurement of the remaining fluid, so the additive counter needs to be reset or notification of bag replacement.

Thanks for the reply Marc. I will see if I can source a 'Lexia 3' cable.

I ordered (what I thought was a) new filled bag online, but what came was a bottle of the fluid and a very flimsy bag. I decided that the existing bag was much better than the new one and so refilled that and reattached it to the connector on the underside of the vehicle.

Hi again Marc,

I've just seen an older post on the same topic where I think you posted this below;

"Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.
I can then at least determine the engine type. If the old system with Marwal ADDGO control ECU, then these are notorious at failing when the time comes to top up the additive and usually have to be replaced. But equally you may not have this and the function now undertaken by the engine ECU."

Can I ask you please to do the same check for my car ?

the VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] - would be much appreciated, as would any info as to whether the car is likely to go into limp mode or not.

Thanks again.

No, these later vehicles have that function provided by the engine management ECU - so no, you don't have the separate additive ECU on your vehicle.

Thank you, that is one worry relieved about the ECU.

Do you know the likelihood of it going into limp mode ?

The additive level is estimated and so the engine ECU is telling you that it needs a top up. If the additive gets too low or empty, you risk damage to the additive pump through dry-running. The it will be more expense to replace.
