I have a 2004 Peugeot 407 with the 2.0 HDI engine (138 hp).
I just now got the car running and driving (it had a small crash on the front, so it wasn't in driving condition). Car starts ok and vibrates just a bit (normal for a "kinda-old" Diesel car), however, when I rev the car (stationary or moving, in gear or not), there is a horrible vibration that makes every plastic on the car rattle really loudly. Vibration is at its worst around 1000 - 2500 rpm, after that it gets a little "smoother"
I'm thinking that's not normal, as it is supposed to be quite refined (at least for a Diesel car of that vintage).
I've had Peugeots with rattly plastics before, but they would only rattle on bad roads, not under normal acceleration, also, it is not just the plastics, the whole car vibrates (steering wheel, seats, center armrest), everything.
I've been trying to find the culprit. The engine itself seems to gain RPM very smoothly and there are no signs of hesitation under acceleration, it seems to be the normal vibrations of the engine being passed to the car, as if there's metal from the engine block touching metal from the car's body. What can I check? Could a bad engine mount lead to this?
Below is the link to a video I've uploaded for better understanding of the problem:
Thanks in advance for any help

Possibly engine or gearbox mount, could be dual mass flywheel if it has one. After a smack anything is possible.

Thanks for the reply, it is now solved!
It was simply a nut on the right engine mount(pictured below) that was too tight, that way, the vibration was passing through the bolt instead of being absorbed by the upper engine mount near it. There's no need to screw the nut too tight, as the engine is on top of that platform, so it is not held in place just by that nut.

After I did this "free fix", the vibrations got better, but never really went away. I've decided to remove the mount and inspect it. It was completely worn out, so I installed a new one. The car is now super smooth, as it should be!
